The Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) helps to support research at the University of Glasgow related to the Trust’s research goals, particularly through the Glasgow Polyomics initiative.
The WT ISSF award is being used strategically by the University of Glasgow to embed 'omics related technologies into research across the University. We have case studies demonstrating some of the cutting edge new research this fund has enabled.
We are delighted that the University of Glasgow has been awarded £3.75 million of funding through the Wellcome Trust's Institutional Strategic Support Fund. This 5 year award is a continuation of the fund that supported UofG in setting up and growing Polyomics. The funders said that Glasgow Polyomics was an "excellent example of how ISSF funds can be used to bring forward areas of strategic importance and embed sustainable change".
This time round the scope will be even broader so watch this space for news of new initiatives and future plans...
Glasgow Polyomics is a research facility at the University of Glasgow that applies state-of-the-art technologies to measure the genome, transcriptome, proteome, and metabolome from any biological system. Ultimately, Our Vision is to seek ways to obtain new biological inference by combining multi-level 'polyomics' datasets.
We welcome enquiries on studies across the field of biomedicine, from environmental science to drug discovery and stratified medicine.
