Next Generation Sequencing

It was lovely to host and work with Agatha Nabilla Lestari who was completing her Master's in Bioinformatics with Juan Quintana (SoBOHVM). Congratulations on the best GPA award!!

Proteomics

The Proteomics team have now transferred data collection to a more sophisticated Orbitrap Fusion mass spectrometer. This has brought a step change in sensitivity and thus proteome coverage, and we are now able to offer state-of-the-art 16plex tandem mass tagging for quantitative proteomics.

Metabolomics and Lipidomics

Congratulations to Clement Regnault who won the Best Speaker Prize at the recent Scottish Metabolomics Network Meeting!

Data Analysis

In collaboration with Dr. Kevin Bryson from the School of Computing Science and as part of a Reinvigorating Research grant, the Data team is building a prototype software tool to help conduct Precision Medicine trials. The software uses deep learning methods to predict transcriptomic responses to drugs. It then employs Bayesian techniques to infer overall drug effectiveness in patient sub-groups. If you are interested in learning more or applying this to your own data, please contact us.

Training

We have run a new course which has been very successful Microbiome Data Analysis Workshop thanks to David McGuinness for taking the course! We plan to run another course in the coming year. We have another An Introduction to Omics course scheduled for February 2023. It has been a busy year for our courses and have received some incredibly positive feedback. Many thanks for all your input and attendance!
